A forgotten beach just minutes from all sorts of action!

The Rafiki Beach camp brings camping to the beach, "Rafiki style". Our camp sits right on the beautiful beach of playa Matapalo only 45 minutes from the main lodge. This little oasis has everything you would want if you were looking for the perfect campsite on the beach. Relax in a  hammock under a giant palm tree. Sun tan out on the beach while looking for dolphins jumping in the waves. Watch the flock of pelicans as they glide toward the islands of Manuel Antonio. The beach has tons of monkeys and we guarantee sloth sightings while you are staying us...

Bed, Breakfast, and Beach

Rafiki Beach Camp features four luxury Safari tents set around a great swimming pool right on the beach. The camp is only a B&B, so you will need to fend for yourselves after the included breakfast. Luckily there are some great little diners on the beach, (with deliveray into camp) and we do allow guests to use the kitchen facilities.  There is a supermarket with in walking distance of the camp t he road..

Water Safari...

We offer an amazing kayak trip from camp that takes you down the Savegre River, through an old growth mangrove forest right to Matapalo beach. It is a great day tour to see birds, crocodiles, monkeys, and of course sloths! This trip is an unforgettable water safari using natural waterways to get you into unparalleled wilderness! It is also the most convenient way to travel between the main lodge and the beach camp.

Other things to do in the area

The Beach camp is the perfect base camp to enjoy all of the adventure the central Pacific coast has to offer without having to give up the tranquility of camping. From Matapalo, you can easily visit Manuel Antonio National Park, Marino Ballena National Park or Hacienda Baru Private Reserve. There are tons of activities in the area including Canopy (zipline) tours, snorkeling, horseback riding and  surf lessons. From here you can also make the transition to Drake Bay, catch a flight back to San Jose, or head north and see some other wonders of the world. After spending some time at the main lodge, the beach camp is a nice way to ease back into reality.
