A nature lover's dream
The most intimate experience in the forest is on foot
Rafiki is home to a lowland tropical forest. Much of the property is still in primary state, giving guests the opportunity to witness phenomonal flora and fauna.
You can choose a guided hike or go on your own adventure.
Waterfall hike -guided hike
This excursion takes you to “Los Campesinos”, a rural tourism project featuring a 340 ft suspension bridge, home cooked meals, and gorgeous waterfalls.
The trip starts with a ferry to far bank of the Savegre River, it then makes its way up a private trail to a look out of the Savegre Valley and the Pacific Ocean. You will then descend to a stream that leads to a massive waterfall. After swimming in the pool below, you will have lunch, then cross a huge suspension bridge, go through a spice farm before walking back to meet a 4×4 truck to take you to camp. This is a challenging hike and participants should be ready to sweat! We can do a modified version of the trip using a 4×4 vehicle, but it does have an extra fee.
Lowland Tropical Forest hike
Explore Rafiki’s private reserve. There is a network of trails into the primary forest that can be done alone with a naturalist guide. Witness giant hard woods, exotic palm trees, vistas of the Pacific Ocean and all of the biodiversity found in the Paso de la Danta, Biological corridor. Hikes range from 1 to 5 kilometers and vary from flat to difficult terrain. PLease contact us if you would like to have a naturalist guide you on the trails.
