We invite you to join us, our accommodations are "in tents"!

Rafiki Safari Lodge provides a unique angle to hospitality in Costa Rica. The lodge is set in the middle of a lowland tropical forest and the beach camp is right on the beach of Playa Matapalo.  We believe that  guests should get to appreciate being in the best climate in the world which is why all of our accommodations are tents.  The smells of tropical flowers and the sounds of the natural world will enhance the experience. This makes Rafiki a truly remarkable holiday destination.

Rafiki Safari Lodge

Rafiki Safari Lodge has 11 luxury tents. each unit has its own porch where rocking chairs invite guests to gaze upon their private view of the forest. The tents sleep 4 people comfortably. All of the tents have hydroelectric power with 110 volt outlets. The modern tiled bathrooms feature glass showers, solar heated hot water, and all the amenties of a world class hotel.

The lodge provides meals built into its rates. The Lekker Bar and Braai  provides home cooked meals with a South African theme. The recipes are original and tasty. We can accommodate to a wide variety of pallets, includes vegetarians and even picky kids!

 Rafiki Beach Camp

The beach camp has 4 tents with a lovely pool in the middle. They are similar to tents at the main lodge. They have tiled floors and each unit has a small refrigerator. The camp is a stone's throw away from a huge uncrowded beach of Matapalo that stretches miles in either direction.

The best way to get to the beach camp is through our mangrove kayak tour. There are roads leading in, and it is easier to get to than the Main lodge, but using a network of mangrove channels and two systems is pretty hard to beat.

The beach camp includes breakfast in its rates and Matapalo has great little diners to keep guests fed for other meals. We also have a communal kitchen if guests want to cook for themselves. This camp is a gateway to all sorts of adventures on the Central Pacific coast so we encourage guests to wander!
